Cameroon's trophy history

Cameroon's most recent Africa Cup of Nations title came in 2017, an unfancied squad without several key players beating Egypt 2-1 from behind in the final to claim a fifth continental crown. Cameroon's football history is defined above all by the 1990 World Cup, where 38-year-old Roger Milla came out of semi-retirement to inspire a run to the quarterfinal — still the best World Cup finish by an African nation for two decades, until Ghana matched it in 2010 and Morocco surpassed it in 2022. Milla's corner-flag dance celebrations became one of the tournament's most enduring images, and Cameroon's opening win over defending champions Argentina remains one of the great World Cup shocks. The team's other major continental peak came in the early 2000s under Samuel Eto'o, Cameroon's all-time leading scorer, who helped them win back-to-back AFCON titles in 2000 and 2002.
