Where Kazakhstan stand now

The current situation

Kazakhstan’s opening Nations League window was not short of goals or narrow margins. They scored in all four games, but conceded in each one too. Two draws and two defeats leave a team that can produce a response still searching for the performance that sustains it.

The 2–2 home draw with the Faroe Islands captured both sides of that story. Kazakhstan recovered from two goals down, with Sergey Malyy and Nuraly Alip scoring, but the game also ended with Malyy sent off. A comeback matters; it does not erase the need to control the next attack or resolve the next match’s disciplinary picture.

November is a different selection stage, not a rerun of September’s list. KFF has published an expanded group with Dastan Satpayev and Islam Chesnokov among its forward options. A long-list place does not settle fitness, eligibility or a starting role. The more useful football question is how the team can give its receivers support without losing the cover behind them.

Kazakhstan 2–2 Faroe Islands

The 6 October home draw completed a four-game opening window without a win.

Moldova away, Slovakia at home

The next stadium-local kickoff is 19:00 EET in Chișinău, not the old February calendar’s late-night Kazakhstan clock.

Expanded, not final

KFF’s 21 October announcement names 38 players. It is a selection stage, not a confirmed matchday eleven.

Our readingAn attacking response should leave the team prepared for the next phase. Give the receiver a short diagonal pass, keep a runner at a different height and leave cover behind the ball. These choices can let Kazakhstan attack with more than an isolated individual action while reducing the distance they must recover after a turnover.

KFF match reports and the November long-list notice anchor the player references. FMF’s newer home-match notice confirms the Chișinău venue and kickoff; KFF’s current upcoming list and UEFA agree on the converted time. The group table is calculated from completed scores, not an editorial rating. Tactical judgments are TrophyDrought editorial analysis, not statements from the coaching staff.

From four narrow margins to two decisive fixtures

Facts first · interpretation second

Kazakhstan's 2026 checkpoint

FOUR GAMES

Two draws and two defeats, with a goal scored and conceded in every match. No clean sheet yet in this league campaign.

OCTOBER

The comeback against the Faroe Islands rescued a point. The result remains a draw, not a completed turnaround in the group.

NOVEMBER

An expanded player pool and two remaining fixtures. The final selection and disciplinary status still need their own confirmation.

The checkpoints describe completed events. The result chart calculates from the published scores, not an editorial performance rating.

First place is no longer available: Kazakhstan’s maximum of eight points is below Slovakia’s existing ten. There is still a competitive position to pursue, but that objective should not replace the practical work. A supported first pass, a runner who does not duplicate the receiver’s lane and a midfielder protecting the inside route are repeatable actions rather than a promise of promotion.

The results identify a useful contrast: Kazakhstan have found a goal in each match, yet have not protected one long enough to win. The next tactical question is how to keep an attacking connection without leaving an open route through midfield. That is analysis to test, not a performance score invented from the final result.

The leader is out of reach. The next place is not.

Kazakhstan can reach a maximum of eight points, below Slovakia’s existing ten. They can still finish second, but no promotion, future play-off outcome or final finishing order is presented as already secured.

The Faroe Islands and Moldova remain two points above Kazakhstan. The remaining fixtures offer a chance to change that position; they are not direct qualification for a first World Cup or EURO finals.

Three questions that define the autumn

Editorial watchlist

Can the forward receive with a second option?

A forward pass is only the start of an attack. A nearby diagonal connection gives the receiver a way to combine, while another runner can keep the back line occupied. Sending everyone toward the same target may make the first ball easier to contest and the next one harder to keep.

What happens after a useful wide action?

The wide player needs a supporting lane as well as somebody ahead. A return pass can change the angle before a defender settles, and a staggered midfield position can help recycle a clearance. The goal is a second useful action, not just a delivery that briefly reaches the box.

Who protects the next transition?

Scoring in every game has not delivered a clean sheet. The answer is not simply to stop attacking: retain cover behind possession and keep the nearest supporting player close enough to react. The shape after a turnover begins with the positions taken before it.

How Kazakhstan could connect

Give the first forward pass an exit

Anarbekov begins the schematic route, Islamkhan connects through midfield and Karimov offers a higher reference. Samorodov stays in another lane. These names come from a completed October matchday group, not the November starting eleven.

The receiver needs a way to continue the move.

This diagram explains relationships, not a confirmed formation. Player availability, squad selection and roles can change before the match window.

Players who shape the next step

Roles, not a predicted XI
A forward option on the long list

Dastan Satpayev

His name appears in the expanded November announcement. That confirms consideration, not a guaranteed place or a fitness verdict. The tactical question is how to connect a forward to the next receiver.

Connect the next phase

Bauyrzhan Islamkhan

He was part of the completed October matchday group. His schematic role explains an angle through midfield rather than an official position map or a predicted November start.

Keep a separate wide lane

Yan Vorogovskiy

The wide reference is useful only if someone remains available inside. His name is drawn from the completed match sheet; the diagram does not announce the next team.

Expanded list. Final decisions still to come.

Selection and availability watch

What the announcement establishes

The 21 October notice is an extended 38-player group. Satpayev and Chesnokov are included, but a long-list place is not a starting position, a medical clearance or the final matchday selection.

A list does not cancel a red card

Malyy was sent off in the completed 6 October game. His name also appears on the November extended list. Exact eligibility and the length of any ban need the current disciplinary record; neither an all-clear nor a specific ban length is invented here.

Do not invent a reason for an omission

Zaynutdinov and Tagybergen are not in the published expanded group. Their earlier national-team contributions remain part of the story. That absence is not labelled as an injury or retirement without a separate announcement.

Kazakhstan Now FAQs

Quick answers
When is Kazakhstan’s next match?

Kazakhstan visit Moldova at Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău on 13 November 2026. The confirmed kickoff is 19:00 EET locally, equivalent to 17:00 UTC, 18:00 CET and 22:00 in Kazakhstan, UTC+5.

Why does an older calendar say 14 November?

The February KFF calendar used an earlier kickoff expressed as 00:45 in Astana on 14 November. The current KFF upcoming list and newer FMF notices instead give 13 November, 22:00 in Kazakhstan and 19:00 in Chișinău. This page uses the newer confirmed time.

Who do Kazakhstan play after Moldova?

They host Slovakia at Astana Arena on 16 November 2026. Kickoff is 20:00 in Kazakhstan, UTC+5, equivalent to 15:00 UTC and 16:00 CET.

What was Kazakhstan’s latest result?

Kazakhstan drew 2-2 at home to the Faroe Islands on 6 October 2026 after coming back from two goals down.

Where are Kazakhstan in Nations League C3?

Fourth after four games with two points. Slovakia have ten, the Faroe Islands four and Moldova four. The table is calculated from eight completed group matches.

Can Kazakhstan still win their Nations League group?

No. Their maximum is eight points, below Slovakia’s existing ten. Second place remains mathematically available; no promotion or future play-off outcome is declared as already achieved.

Who is Kazakhstan’s current manager?

John van ’t Schip is the senior-team head coach in KFF’s current staff directory and November selection announcement.

Has Kazakhstan announced a November squad?

KFF published an extended 38-player list on 21 October. It is not treated here as the final matchday squad or a confirmed starting eleven.

Are Dastan Satpayev and Islam Chesnokov included?

Both appear in the November extended list. Inclusion confirms consideration, not a guaranteed start or a fresh medical verdict.

Is Sergey Malyy available for Moldova?

His red card in the completed 6 October game is confirmed, and he also appears in the extended November list. The exact next-match eligibility and any suspension length require the current disciplinary record; a long-list place alone does not establish availability.

Are Zaynutdinov and Tagybergen on the November list?

Neither appears in the expanded list published on 21 October. This page does not invent an injury, retirement or other reason for their absence.

How many European Championships have Kazakhstan won?

None. The men’s national team have never reached the EURO finals. Nations League promotion and a qualifying play-off appearance are separate achievements.

Have Kazakhstan ever played at a World Cup?

No. The men’s team have not reached the World Cup finals, including the 2026 tournament.

Why are Kazakhstan in the Waiting Room?

They have not won the senior men’s World Cup or top continental championship. A Nations League group win or club and futsal honours do not end that major-title wait.

Is the tactical pitch the November starting line-up?

No. It uses six names from a completed October matchday group to explain passing support and recovery positions. It is not an official formation or a selection announcement.
