The breakthrough happened. Now build what comes next.

An Asian Cup final changed the ambition. A first World Cup changed the experience. Badou Zaki now has to connect those milestones to a team that creates enough chances, supports Al-Taamari and prepares for January without rushing its returning players.

Latest result: Jordan 0–0 Venezuela

Full time · 6 October 2026

JFA records a goalless friendly at King Abdullah II Stadium. Al-Taamari, Olwan and Al-Mardi started; this is recent involvement, not a November team sheet. Read the completed-match report. The results filter separates the completed World Cup from the new autumn friendlies.

Where Jordan stand now

Current situation

The milestones are real, but they answer different questions. Reaching the 2023 Asian Cup final showed what Jordan could do in a knockout tournament; the 2026 World Cup debut exposed the next level of difficulty. Three group defeats left a clear task: improve the quality of the next action, not simply repeat the story of qualification.

Zaki’s first autumn friendlies ended 1–1 with Syria and 0–0 with Venezuela. That is a small sample, not a trend strong enough to settle every selection argument. It does, however, focus attention on the link between midfield support, Al-Taamari’s carries and the striker’s options inside the box.

November is preparation, not qualification. Jordan have already earned their Asian Cup place. The immediate programme includes Indonesia and Australia, but the Indonesia trip is under review. The other important uncertainty is Al-Naimat’s gradual return: optimism about January must not become an invented promise about November.

Keep the confidence, rebuild the connections

The inherited story is a final and a World Cup debut. Zaki’s task is to turn that confidence into repeatable routes through midfield and into the penalty area.

Give the winger more than a duel

A first defender beaten is only the beginning. The striker’s movement, an inside receiver and the distance to the covering midfielder decide whether the attack can continue.

Separate recovery from selection

A gradual training return is not the same as competitive clearance. Keep the medical timeline separate from the tactical discussion and the next squad announcement.

Our readingThe autumn sample has one goal scored and one conceded across two friendlies. It describes outcomes, not chance quality: no expected-goals figure or invented performance score is supplied. The useful question is how Jordan add a second attacking option without leaving a direct route through the centre after losing possession.

JFA supports the coach, completed matches, recent player pool and preparation programme. Football Australia corroborates its fixture. Separate attributed reports explain Indonesia’s itinerary review and Al-Naimat’s return watch; neither is treated as a new official team sheet. Tactical judgments are TrophyDrought editorial analysis, not statements from the coaching staff.

Jordan's 2026 checkpoint

2 DRAWS

Autumn friendlies · goals 1–1 · not qualifying points.

0 TITLES

Asian Cup wins · runner-up in the 2023 edition.

JANUARY

Already qualified · the next competitive finals.

These are completed-match totals and confirmed calendar checkpoints, not invented performance ratings.

The next step is not another qualification headline. It is a team that can make an attacking move twice in the same possession: release the winger, find the support pass, then arrive in the box with cover still behind the ball. That is the editorial problem explored on the board below.

Three questions before November

Editorial watchlist

Who helps Al-Taamari after the first touch?

An inside midfielder needs to offer a forward-facing return, while Olwan gives the centre-back a different problem. Otherwise a promising carry can end with the winger surrounded and no clean second pass.

Can Jordan enter the box with more than one option?

A striker occupying the centre does not automatically create a finishing chance. A delayed supporting run and a cut-back target can make the final ball less predictable.

Who stays connected when the attack expands?

The midfield pair need not stand level with each other. One can offer the forward pass while the other protects the central route, giving the defence time if the move breaks down.

How Jordan could connect

Interactive tactical explainer
Six named Jordan players illustrate passing relationships, not an official lineupATTACK ↑OlwanAl-TaamariAl-MardiRawabdehRashdanAl-Arab
Selected idea

Give Rawabdeh a forward angle

Al-Arab represents the first pass, Rashdan the nearby cover and Rawabdeh the receiving angle. Olwan holds a higher position so the pass does not lead into an empty attacking line.

Find the angle before forcing the forward ball.

This diagram explains relationships, not a confirmed formation. Player availability, squad selection and roles can change before the match window.

Players who shape the next step

Roles, not a predicted XI
Ball carrier and release point

Musa Al-Taamari

Named in the Venezuela starting team. His acceleration is the opening, but support around the next pass is the tactical focus; recent involvement is not a November availability guarantee.

Forward reference

Ali Olwan

Also started against Venezuela. His runs can hold or move a centre-back, creating an inside route for the winger. The board explores that relationship, not an official lineup.

Return watch, not a promised starter

Yazan Al-Naimat

A September report describes a gradual training return aimed at Asian Cup readiness. He is not placed in the illustrative current combination or assigned a November comeback date.

Availability: a camp list is not a clearance

Players and return watch

The recent attacking references

JFA’s 6 October team sheet names Al-Taamari, Olwan and Al-Mardi. The October camp also supplies the midfield and defensive names used in the illustrative board. Those records establish a completed selection, not November availability.

Do not confuse defender Yazan Al-Arab with forward Yazan Al-Naimat. The latter’s return needs its own confirmation.

Al-Naimat: progress is not a match date

Roya’s 29 September report quotes JFA vice-president Marwan Juma on a gradual return to training aimed at Asian Cup readiness. It does not confirm November selection or medical clearance for a competitive match.

Until a fresh medical update and squad list establish more, the sensible label is return watch. The tactical board therefore does not place him in an assumed current lineup.

Jordan Now FAQs

Quick answers
When is Jordan’s next match?

JFA’s programme lists Indonesia on 13 November 2026 in Amman, followed by Australia on 17 November. Indonesia’s participation requires reconfirmation after PSSI reviewed its travel plans. No kickoff is assumed for either game.

Is Jordan v Indonesia confirmed for 13 November?

It is in JFA’s announced programme, but a 13 October report quotes PSSI reviewing the November trip. Treat it as an announced plan under review, not a cancelled match and not an unconditional travel guarantee.

When will Jordan play Australia?

Both federations announce 17 November 2026 in Amman, local date. JFA names Amman International Stadium; Football Australia still marks the venue and kickoff TBC. Recheck the organisers before making travel plans.

What was Jordan’s latest result?

Jordan drew 0–0 with Venezuela on 6 October 2026 at King Abdullah II Stadium. The earlier autumn friendly against Syria finished 1–1. These were preparation matches, not Asian Cup qualifiers.

Who is Jordan’s current coach?

Badou Zaki. JFA announced his appointment on 19 July 2026 after accepting Jamal Sellami’s resignation. Sellami’s role at the World Cup belongs to the completed campaign, not the current coaching label.

Will Musa Al-Taamari play in November?

He started the 6 October Venezuela friendly according to JFA’s match report. That proves recent involvement, not a November call-up, fitness clearance or starting place.

When will Yazan Al-Naimat return?

Roya’s 29 September report, quoting JFA vice-president Marwan Juma, describes a gradual training return aimed at Asian Cup readiness. It is not medical clearance for November or a confirmed comeback date.

Is Ali Olwan part of the recent Jordan squad?

Yes. JFA’s Venezuela report lists him in the starting team alongside Al-Taamari and Mahmoud Al-Mardi. That recent combination informs the analysis, not a prediction of the next starting XI.

Have Jordan announced their November squad?

The selection evidence used here comes from the completed September–October camp. It must not be presented as a November squad; a fresh federation list and matchday availability checks are needed.

Are Jordan qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup?

Yes. Jordan are in Group B with Uzbekistan, Bahrain and DPR Korea. November friendlies prepare the team for the finals; they are not a new qualifying group.

How many Asian Cups have Jordan won?

Zero. Their best finish is runner-up in the 2023 edition, whose final was played on 10 February 2024. Qatar won that final 3–1.

Did Jordan play at the 2026 World Cup?

Yes, for the first time. They lost all three group matches: 1–3 against Austria, 1–2 against Algeria and 1–3 against Argentina. They did not reach the knockout stage.

Why can World Cup match dates differ by one day?

The results table uses Jordan’s calendar dates, UTC+3. The three matches were played on 16, 22 and 27 June in North America, which corresponded to 17, 23 and 28 June in Jordan. Publication dates alone are not used to decide match dates.

Is the tactical board an official formation?

No. It uses names from JFA’s recent camp to explain passing options and cover. It is neither an official formation nor a confirmed November XI.

Where can I watch Jordan’s next match?

Check JFA and authorised broadcasters in your territory once the fixture arrangements are reconfirmed. Coverage of an earlier friendly does not establish November broadcast rights.
